How To Go to Suyac Island
From Bacolod City
- Take a bus or van from Bacolod City to Sagay City.
- Travel time is approximately 2 to 3 hours.
- Proceed to the Sagay Marine Reserve Visitor Center or Old Sagay Port.
- Register and pay the required tourism fees.
- Hire a boat going to Suyac Island.
From Carbin Reef Island, Suyac is only around 10 minutes away by boat.

What to Expect in Suyac Island
Walk Through the Mangrove Forest
From the welcome area, you’ll walk along elevated wooden pathways that lead deep into the eco-park. The boardwalk passes through towering mangrove trees, some of which are believed to be over a hundred years old.
It’s not every day that you get to walk through a living ecosystem like this, and it quickly became my favorite part of the visit.
Kayak Tour to See Wildlife
If you’re lucky, you may spot fruit bats hanging from the trees or flying overhead during a kayak tour. I remember being amazed by how alive the forest felt. Every corner seemed to have something interesting to see, whether it was birds, mangrove roots, or simply the changing views along the boardwalk.
Relax in the Seaside Cottages
At the end of the eco-park, you’ll find cottages overlooking the sea. The view from here is beautiful, especially during high tide when the water surrounds the wooden structures. Sitting there with the ocean breeze blowing while listening to the waves felt incredibly relaxing.
Swim and Enjoy the Coastal Views
Depending on the tide, visitors can also take a dip in the water near the cottages. When we arrived around 9 AM, the water level was relatively low, but it gradually rose as the day went on. There are designated areas where visitors can safely access the water.
