ECO HUT: Dipolog City’s Earth-friendly Lounge Cafe
As a consumer, it’s difficult to shift into zero-waste lifestyle. But even though I can’t fully commit myself in making that shift, it is nice to always stay conscious of the environment. That’s why I am very passionate in supporting local businesses that has become the paradigm on being environmentally responsible in Zamboanga del Norte.
Now, Dipolog City has the newest earth-friendly lounge– the Eco Hut.
This is not an ordinary cafe because their top priority is to promote environmental awareness to Dipolognons who are in hunt for eco-friendly goods.
“That’s why all our products are carefully selected to ensure that we stick to our purpose.”
Eco Hut is relatively new in the city and the brand name itself fits perfectly to the place because it’s a small, simple, single-storey house selling eco-friendly goods. I mean, that’s the simplest definition to it!
It is located in one of the edges of Bagsakan ni Edad and personally, I like the location because it’s a bit isolated from the hassle of the city which is a perfect study nook for students and even to people like me who always wanted a me time.
The Eco Hut
The forepart is already screaming for an environmental vibes with plants and wooden walls on it. And I like how you can see the entire place through its window glass. It makes it less intimidating because you can lowkey check if there are lots of people inside and eventually stop by if there’s none. LOL to my awkward self!
I am always drawn to an aesthetically-pleasing bar service area.
STRAWS: Edible | Bamboo | Metal Different sizes of reusable cups
Just like in Barra Barista, the bar service area is also one of its most instagrammable spot. You can actually take stunning photos while waiting for your order. The staff is also very pleasant, like I asked her a lot of questions about Eco Hut and even though she’s busy, she makes me feel welcome.
When there’s an available space for dine in, you’ll enter another door going into the cozy-ambiance Ecohut Lounge with a wall of wide variety of products from plastic-free bar soaps that are all natural to guilt-free snacks and other personal essentials. Everything are eco-friendly claims for your household and the environment.
About Ecohut Lounge
What I most like about Eco Hut is that the lounge is a great place for freelancers and digital nomad like me since my work is highly in need of an Internet (yes i’ts a WiFi zone) and includes a lot of moving to different locations as I do quick client meetings or even just simply finishing a project.
- BOOK-A-SEAT before going to the hut prior to your meeting schedules and hangout plans because Eco Hut only allows six people inside the lounge to observe social distancing.
- One hour per person in the lounge means you have to purchase anything worth at least Php50.00.
Advantages of Ecohut Community Members
- FREE 5 Hours every week
- NO CORKAGE FEE for outside food and beverages
Please be reminded that members still need to book for a seat and a no-show booking is a time deduction to your free hours.
Ecohut Food Menu
My visit to Eco Hut is on purpose because I’m on the hunt of the best milktea in Dipolog City for an upcoming blog content as part of my #exploredipolog project. That’s why I ordered one of their milktea madness.
I ordered the Oreo Cheesecake Overload or what they call the Eco Loco. It’s a chocolate, creamy and cheesy flavour rolled into one special drink. I’m not that good in describing the taste, but I have to say that it has made the cut to my best milktea list.
This is how you can support Ecohut’s mission to promote environmental awareness
- Their packaging are either reusable and recyclable. Be a responsible consumer and know how to sustain these things.
- Donate your plastic containers after use. Eco Hut is kind enough and more than willing to to hand them over to their recycling center.
- All proceeds will be used to buy more wire bins for recyclable wastes to be donated to public schools and selected public places.
Eco Hut: A local business supporting local products
An addition to the number of amazing things about this eco-friendly shop is their utmost support to local products. Here are some featured products that they sell:
Handcrafted Nito Basket
You buy one and help a lola in need. Price starts at Php150.00.

The natural environment or should I say the earth in general is expensive today. From seeing the world’s nature in different travel destinations to organic products, many businesses and companies are claiming to be “eco-friendly” and the term get throws around a lot.
You see it on labels and it’s something that usually drives the consumer to get interested. It is used so often that sometimes it can be hard to understand the importance of an eco-friendly lifestyle and products to the community.
But with Eco Hut, you’d really see their passion in promoting environmental awareness with the ingredients that they use, selling local-produced goods. Casually lounging in a cozy place and knowing that you have contributed a bit to the environment makes it even more amazing.

We need more cafes similar to the Eco Hut. Haven’t been at any eco cafe but I think it would change our perspective on looking at the places that we visit. Also, love your photos! 🙂

Wow! That cafe looks so pretty! I definitely see myself lounging here or working if meron nyan sa Manila! I also told myself i’ll support more local cafes and those that are eco-friendly. Anyway, stay safe there! ?

Hi Hazel! 🙂 Yeah ako I love lounging sa mga hindi crowded na lugar kaya yun gusto ko dito kasi since book-a-seat sya, talagang di dagsa mga tao. Saka sarap din sa feeling na maka support sa mga local cafes that are eco-friendly. Pakiramdam ko kahit papano nakatulong din sa environment 😀 Btw you know what, most of their local products are from Dapitan City especially the handmade na basket pots pati na rin yung cacao na ginagamit nila for their cocoa drink.
