I Attended a Wedding in Cebu and Accidentally Scheduled the Photographer the Wrong Date

Attending a wedding is one aspect of adulthood that I have to learn the hard way and it has now come at a certain point of my life that I feel like everyone I have met and grow up with are getting engaged and already settling down at the same time. And while everyone is getting married, I am here being their wedding guest.

I just recently attended a civil wedding of my cousin. This is the first wedding of the year that I attended. I still have two more, at least for the confirmed schedules. Me and my family have traveled all the way to Cebu for this very special event. I was invited as a guest and it’s nice because I only have to find something to wear, of course, which is harder than it sounds.

On the day of the wedding, I thought I was just really a guest who would sit down and wait for the ceremony to be over. But then I found myself coordinating everything for the couple. I took over the event, from the ceremony to the reception and made sure that the event will run smoothy as it was planned. The couple had to do everything all by themselves during the preparation and I wasn’t originally part of it. But I want them to enjoy their wedding day as much as they can that’s why I had to help them coordinate everything.

God, it was fun!

We arrived early morning in Cebu on the wedding day. Since the ceremony was scheduled at 2pm, we were able to visit the famous Basilica Church and offered our self-intentions there. It’s a week away from the Sinulog Festival celebration, so there are already a quite of people going in and out of the church. It almost felt like we had also celebrated Sinulog. And for me, well, it’s a nostalgia of my college days. I haven’t had visited Cebu like that (and took photos) when I used to live there. Now, I have truly appreciated the beauty of its history.

We had a quick breakfast then went straight to Bayfront Hotel and start preparing for the wedding.

It’s crazy because I had to get change as fast as I could because I still had to contact the photographer that we booked a few days before the wedding day.  But no wedding is perfect they say, that’s why it got even crazier when the photographer told me that I scheduled him the wrong date.

The wedding was Friday and I scheduled him on Saturday. LOL! It was an honest mistake because the first date was really Saturday then it was moved to Friday. So, it was Saturday that got stuck in my head. It was really my fault. But I haven’t informed the couple yet because I wanted to do something about it. Thankfully, the photographer was very kind in helping me to find another photographer who’s available to shoot that day. My heart’s throbbing every time I get denied from one person to another. And then exactly two hours before the ceremony, someone has finally accepted the event. AAAA THE RELIEF!

The ceremony went really well. I also had t o coordinate in taking group photos afterwards for us to have a proper photos with the newly wed since no one really knows what. The couple just wanted to do random photos of them with the guests. Well, giving attention sometimes on photo ops during weddings has become really useful for me that day.

The whole fam with the newly wedded couple.

The reception took place in Hukad, SM Seaside. I have officially become an on-site maid of honor slash coordinator (LOL). I had to casually check the food if we need additional orders. Then I had to convinced the couple to do the cake & champagne, wedding traditions even if they didn’t want to. I really insisted because it’s a once in a lifetime event. They had to do it!

I had a love and hate feeling for this wedding. My heart pounded like crazy and I felt both nervous and happy. But of course, I felt the latter part the most especially for my cousin who is now married to the love of her life. I never really expected to be doing everything that I did, but it happened. It’s a memory worth looking back to.

And I’m showcasing some photos of the after party in an unplanned black and white outfit with cousins and siblings! 🙂

Maybe 2020 will be mostly about weddings! Hmph. First of the three confirmed wedding invitation is doooone.

How was your new year so far? Meee…I feel like that was just the first part of January and I’m about to face the 2nd part. LOL! It’s the longest month ever! Actually, daming ganap sa world. 😀

I like how you helped in the wedding. I also had a lot of invites this year but the couples decided to postpone their weddings. This pandemic really affects everyone big time!

(Just thinking about it makes my stressed again! haha) It was nice that the photographer helped out! Not all would do that 🙂 Congratulations and Best wishes to the couple! 🙂

Hahaha! Ang scary nga nun. Parang sayo nakasalalay yung memories ng kasal nila dahil sa schedule ng photographer. But atleast nairaos. Hahaha.
