My 7-Day Simple Grocery List of Healthy, Less Rice Meals Under 1,000 + Workout App for Beginners
Ever since I started being a health-conscious, I realized that a trip to grocery store can be wasteful if I don’t make a solid list of not just what I want to eat, but what my body really needs. It wasn’t an easy start for me. I’ve been researching a lot, reading every ingredient and items about their health benefits. I also have to consider about how I could make use of all the purchased ingredients in every meal that I have to prepare everyday. It’s really challenging but it’s slowly getting easy for me day by day. Until today, I never stopped exploring. Most of the healthy ingredients are pricey, so I also have to look for alternatives that would fit my budget and easy-to-find ingredients since I’m a freelancer.
Summer is fast approaching. I’m sure you’d want to start eating healthy and start working out to achieve that summer body for your beach trips. Here’s a simple grocery list for a week and a free workout app that you can try at home
The trick here is to try and work out precisely what and how much you’ll need. Supermarkets are quite evil because it makes you buy things you didn’t plan to or simply don’t need. Making a list and sticking to it will help you fight those bedazzling temptations because you don’t want to spend unnecessary pennies for promos even if it’s not on the list.
Most of the items listed below are from the supermarket. You can buy fruits and veggies in the wet market for cheaper prices.
|1 Whole Loaf Bread||50.00|
|1 Dozen of Eggs||80.00|
|3 Cans Century Tuna Flakes and Oil – 28.50/can||85.50|
|1/2 Bunch of Bananas||50.00|
|3 Apples – 10.00 each||30.00|
|800 Grams Oatmeal||120.00|
|1 Liter Low Fat Milk||90.00|
|Brocolli / Green Beans / Any Other Green Veggies||50.00|
|200 Grams Spaghetti Stick||75.00|
Avocado fruit is perhaps one of the most important because it’s a good fat ingredient. You can have it in toast for breakfast and as a side dish for other meals. Unfortunately, it’s just so hard to find a good avocado here in Dipolog.
However, some of the ingredients can be found at home. But you can add these condiments, sauces, fats and oils, snacks, spices, and other pantry staples in your list if you have extra budget.
- Olive Oil
- Chia Seeds
- Apple Cider Vinegar
- Salt and Pepper
- Tomato Sauce
- Green Tea Bags
Being born as a Filipino, I am a rice eater. That is why I only say less rice because whenever I am craving, I don’t deprive myself with it. Especially kung masarap ulam. LOL!

Starting a healthy lifestyle doesn’t mean cutting junk foods, pancit canton nights, soda cravings, samgyupsal weekend treats, anything sweets and beers all at once. It’s the willingness to really make a change on your eating habits and do it slowly until you get used to it.
I tell you, this is going to be hard at first. It was so hard to make time for the challenge between work, holiday stuff, and the laziness to go grocery shopping. But I like that there’s something I looked forward to having some set time to exercise and prepare meals where I focus on myself , knowing that I am getting stronger and healthy in the process. Once you get the hang of it too and you’d start to feel the change in your body, it’s addicting.
At least for me.
I like this new path that I’m on and I want to keep pushing forward.
